Thursday Night.

Tonight was incredible. We got off to a rough start with some computer troubles, but ultimately, the night was fantastic. Nick and I got press passes to the Fader Fort on 5th street and definitely got full value for them. we saw probably the most innovative soul band out there: Mayer Hawthorne and The County. They blew me away. It was like listening to a Smokey Robinson tune-or any other Motown hit for that matter. These guys were phenomenal.

The other band that was a big deal for tonight was Fall of Troy, an intense math oriented rock trio. Sadly, this is their last tour (or so they say) but I was totally impressed. The crowd absolutely thrived off of the group and by the end, I was lucky enough to be holding on to a pair of the monitors for dear life as everyone surged around us.

Earlier in the afternoon, we stopped by the Day Stage in the convention center and saw a great 5 piece group called Dr. Dog. Having never seen them before, I expected a DJ set but was pleasantly surprised when the band came out and rocked out. I would describe them as Indie/Grunge with a blend of clean and distorted rock and great punchy vocals over the top.
